What inspires me
New machines, new challenges & sharing knowledge
The reward of learning and teaching
The most satisfying part of my job is learning and growing with new machines. Whenever the company invests in equipment like lasers, foilers, sheeting machines, or paper guillotines, I get the opportunity to learn how to operate them and understand their challenges.
It’s also rewarding to teach new staff how to use these machines, sharing my knowledge and helping them grow. The most satisfying part is that I’m always learning something new and contributing to the development of both the team and the company.
Which skills have you developed that are most valuable for your career growth?
I started my career as a Quality Control Clerk in a very small department of just five people, which required me to manage multiple responsibilities. After a year, when my manager was transferred, I took over managing the Tipping Division, which handles cigarette printing. This meant I was responsible for taking orders, sourcing raw materials such as cylinders, base paper, cores, pallets, and coordinating with suppliers.
As the company grew, we relocated to Puchong and expanded the factory to accommodate more machines and production capacity. In line with the growth of the company and the increase in machines, we had to build and expand the factory area until it became what it is today. Through this experience, I developed strong skills in multitasking, operations management, and team leadership. Over time, I progressed to my current role as a production team leader, gaining hands-on experience in managing both people and processes and driving team success.
If you had to describe your 20 years here in three words, what would they be and why?
If I had to describe my 20 years in three words, it would be: “moving forward together”.
Why? Because when I started, the company had just five employees, one printing machine, and one slitting machine. Over the past 20 years, we have grown rapidly. Today, we operate four printing machines, five slitting machines, seven performing machines with single and double bobbins, two laser machines, a foiler, and recently added a sheeting machine and a paper guillotine for future growth.
It’s been remarkable to move forward together in this transformation, growing alongside the company.
What makes delfort special is our connection and teamwork through weekly assemblies and team-building events. We stay aligned, supported, and united in growing the company together.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their career here?
My advice to someone just starting their career here is to not limit themselves to their department. For example, if you work in printing, don’t just focus on printing; also learn how the slitting department works and what challenges they face after the paper is printed. Understanding the workflow beyond your own tasks helps you see the bigger picture.
Understanding the bigger picture adds value to yourself. The more value you bring, the more the company sees you as a key asset and opens doors for your growth. So, to develop your career, be curious and learn about areas outside your immediate role.
Which achievement or project are you most proud of, and why is it so meaningful to you?
The project I’m most proud of at delfort is the FOILER project. When I started, I had no prior experience with foiling or how the process worked, so I had to learn everything from scratch.
I learned how the machine works, how different films behave, and how embossing varies from job to job. Each film requires its own setup temperature, pressure, and speed must be carefully adjusted to get the desired results. Once I understood a setup, I documented it so that future jobs could be produced efficiently.
This process had to be repeated for each new type of film or job, and over time, I developed a reliable system that allows us to produce high-quality results consistently with minimal adjustments. This project is meaningful to me because it demonstrates how I can learn completely new skills, solve complex problems, and create a system that adds lasting value to the company.
