Shipping Envelopes with delfort transparent paper

PAC-List Introduces Shipping Envelopes with delfort’s Transparent Paper

As global pressure to reduce reliance on fossil-derived materials grows, forward-thinking companies are reimagining what’s possible, without compromising on performance. PAC-List, a leader in document envelopes, now produces shipping envelopes made with delfort’s thinwrap® transparent paper.

“Our products are originally manufactured from polyethylene or polypropylene. With growing worldwide environmental concerns about the use of plastic, our mission was to find an alternative material for packing list envelopes,“ explains Céline Vincendeau, Sales Manager at PAC LIST. “We were looking for a natural material, not derived from petroleum extraction, that was transparent and compatible with our existing production techniques. The success of this partnership is backed by an independent life cycle assessment conducted by AD FINE, which found a significant carbon footprint reduction* compared to plastic pouches of similar weight and thickness.”

Our transparent papers are a high-performing alternative to plastic films. For PAC-List, our thinwrap® transparent papers delivered the ideal balance of quality, runnability, transparency, and value.

“The idea was to find a paper that is transparent enough to offer the same benefits as plastic,” says Céline Vincendeau. “The transparency must be such that a QR code or barcode printed on the inner document can be read through the transparent paper. Additionally, the paper also needed to be resistant enough to survive the rigors of shipping and handling.”

delfort’s thinwrap transparent paper, crafted from responsibly sourced pulp, met every requirement, offering exceptional transparency, high resistance, and strong wet-strength performance. Additionally, the paper is recyclable according to the CEPI method and can be enhanced with wet strength and UV protection, key benefits for the shipping industry, where materials must withstand exposure to the elements.

We have important values within our company, which include preserving the planet. This project reflects our commitment to offering solutions with a lower environmental impact while maintaining quality and runnability.

a commitment to the planet, one envelope at a time

PAC-List made targeted investments to adjust tools at various stages of production. Today, their machines are versatile, allowing the company to process both paper and plastic pouches depending on customer needs. “We took the time to develop the feasibility of our machines and find the right materials to replace plastic. The result is a product that performs and respects our environmental values,” says Céline Vincendeau.

*PAC-List conducted carbon footprint analysis with AD FINE, an independent engineering firm, as part of their Diag Décarbon’action initiative in partnership with Bpifrance, ADEME, and ABC. All stages were included in the comparison, from the procurement of raw materials to sales to our customers, including processing in the factory. The study compared an envelope made with delfort paper to an equivalent made from plastic. For more information, please contact Céline Vincendeau at cvincendeau@pac-list.fr
