Information Technology plays a key role at delfort: it drives innovation, protects our IP assets, and fosters growth throughout the entire company. In this employee spotlight, we spoke to Helene, the newest member of our IT team. What inspired her to pursue a career in the IT field at delfort? Keep reading to find out!
First, welcome to team delfort! How have your first couple of months been?
When starting a new job, it's always hectic, but I already feel like part of the team. As soon as I walked in, I had a good feeling; it's a very modern and welcoming place. Plus, I’ve never experienced such a nice onboarding phase! My colleagues are so friendly. They are always asking me if I feel comfortable or if I need help. It really makes me feel welcome.
Although you’ve only been at delfort for a short time, you’re already involved in a number of projects. What are you currently working on?
My goal is to become a master of synergy, planning resources and improving IT systems. delfort's internal IT support system is something that almost every employee uses. Part of my job is optimizing and maintaining these systems. This will make it easier for my team in IT to respond quickly to requests and address any issues or questions. Such improvements will also make it easier for anyone at team delfort to get IT support.
I enjoy finding ways to help employees be more productive, so I have been speaking with key users about their experience with our IT solutions. In this way, I can learn about the company and meet colleagues at the same time. I also want to understand what works and what can be improved. As a social person, I love the varied work and collaboration with different people that come along with project management.
As a sporty person, I appreciate that delfort helps its employees stay active with various classes like yoga and HIT training. I also like that I can order food from my desk for those days when I don’t have time to bring something with me. It’s also great that there are shower facilities in the building, those who want to bike or walk to work can then have a shower and freshen up before starting the workday.
There is still a large gender gap between men and women in technology. What inspired you to pursue a career in IT?
You could say that IT runs in my family! My father also works in IT, so I got my first insights into this topic at a very early age. It’s always been something that interests me. In high school, I chose computer science as an optional subject. After graduating from high school, my father advised me to study business informatics because there were many excellent career opportunities in the IT field.
During my studies, I found out that I was very interested in the topic of project and process management and that I wanted to focus my professional future on this area. I like working in project management, and on projects in general, because I want to contribute to making processes in the company more efficient. My new role at delfort as an IT Project & Portfolio Manager is, therefore, a great fit for me.
IT is in high demand across all industries, what was it that motivated you to accept a position at delfort?
Well, the first thing that caught my attention was the role itself. What appealed to me above all was the exciting areas of responsibility and the resulting challenges.
My role is varied and allows me to be creative and find new solutions. I have the opportunity to make something from scratch, to lay the foundation of new ways of organizing IT projects and allocating resources. I am a creative person and a problem solver, so it’s important for me to work somewhere that allows me to use these skills.
For a lot of people, interviews can be very daunting. How was your experience interviewing at delfort?
Actually, my interview experience was a big reason I decided delfort was the right place for me. I was won over by the atmosphere right away. When I had my interview, I immediately felt welcome. It was a very family-like feeling and I felt comfortable right away. I think this is quite rare in an interview, it’s a stressful situation so I really appreciated how at ease they made me feel.
At delfort I’m encouraged to find better ways of doing things, to come up with modern and creative solutions, something I love to do.
