On delfort’s dynamic and exciting work floors, there is machinery to operate, heavy loads to handle, chemicals to mix and high temperatures to regulate. It’s no secret: with the development and manufacturing of specialty paper comes risk. In order to protect our employees from harm, we go above and beyond standard requirements, ensuring everyone returns home safely to their families.
One of our many safety measures is providing each facility with experienced operational first responders. These valued colleagues receive periodic training, undergoing rigorous drills on accident prevention, emergency management and first aid administration. If the unavoidable emergency should occur - like a heart attack, stroke or accident - they are armed with the correct response. Whether it be administering CPR, dressing wounds or stabilizing bone injuries, they’ve practiced what to do until paramedics arrive.
The most recent training took place in October 2019 - provided in full by delfort - in the form of a 16-hour basic course and an 8-hour refresher course. 80% of the training focused on practical exercises. Actors simulated a whole slew of challenging emergency situations, allowing participants to test their knowledge and critical thinking skills.
Although we do everything in our power to prevent accidents, this is real life. Should something happen, we rest assured knowing we can rely on our well-trained first responders to jump into action.
