Change starts now. By partnering with the cross-disciplinary team of scientists and technologists from DELSCI, we take the future of food packaging to a whole new level. Together we aim to transform traditional packaging into paper-based alternatives that are both functional and sustainable.
This major step toward sustainability will bring lasting change to the food packaging industry. Imagine if all single-use packaging were recyclable and/or compostable. That would make a world of difference to our environment! By strategically collaborating with the research organization DELSCI, we can revolutionize the food packaging industry and overcome a global culture of non-sustainable packaging.
collaboration to revolutionize the food packaging industry
Our R&D partner DELSCI can count on our core competence, centuries of papermaking experience, and a vast global network of strategic partners, paper mills, and paper-converting companies. Already, they are hard at work researching solutions for high-performance barriers against mineral oils, aroma, and oxygen as well as functional sealing for paper packaging.
packaging’s next generation is on its way!
As a dynamic duo, we drive the change the market been waiting for: eco-friendly paper packaging that is superior and smart in functionality. Each type of food has different packaging needs. Our scientists match each solution with the right protective, bio-based layers and alter the paper’s cellulose microstructure. These specific opportunities include:
< 1 HOUR
Wrapping paper for hot burgers, cold sandwiches, or french fries needs to keep the food fresh and tasty. delfort’s packaging papers like thinbarrier® eco are ideal for protecting food products without affecting taste. Another key advantage is the porousness of delfort’s vegetable-based paper. When using thinbarrier® eco, food stays fresh longer because moisture build-up can escape without ruining your delicious treats.
< 2 WEEKS
Fast-moving consumer goods like cheese or ham require packaging that keeps the product fresh for one to two weeks. In this specific case, the paper must have a higher barrier property in order to preserve the content vs. penetration of moisture, grease, and oxygen.
MONTHS UP TO 1 YEAR
Food with a longer shelf life needs packaging papers with even higher barrier functions to protect the content by preventing the penetration of mineral oil and oxygen and to preserve the aroma, texture, and taste. A top priority for these flexible packaging papers is its sealability, which is necessary e.g. for cereal bags, chips, or your favorite chocolate.
